Litany of Osiris
Worship of Osiris, the Lord of Forever:
Wennefer, Horakhty,
With myriad modes of being, numberless forms,
Ptah-Sokar, Atum in Heliopolis,
Lord of the Shrine, who merged with the Temple of Ptah
These are the gods who govern the underworld;
They protect you when you go to rest in Naunet
Isis wraps you in her peace,
The adversary is driven from your path
You have turned your face towards the West
That you may brighten the Two Lands with fine gold!
The sleepers stand to look at you
That they may breathe the air, seeing your face;
Just as the Sundisk rises from your Horizon
Their hearts are pleased with what you have created.
For it is you who are eternal and everlasting
“Praise be to you!”
Say the stars in Heliopolis, the Sunfolk in ancient Babylon
You are Wenti, diviner than the gods
The hidden one at Heliopolis
“Praise be to you!”
Say ancient deities in Iwn-des. You are the great Horakhty,
Wide-striding when he crosses heaven-
You are indeed Horakhty!
“Praise be to you!”
You are the soul of Eternity, the Ram who dwells in Busiris,
Wennefer, the son of Nut
Lord of the Realm of the Dead!
“Praise be to you!”
In your rule of Busiris, the Great Crown firm on your head
You are the only one who is his own protection
As you go to rest in Busiris
“Praise be to you!”
Lord of the Pomegranate nome, one who places Sokar on his sledge,
Drives off the rebel who does evil
And puts the Eye to rest where it belongs.
“Praise be to you!”
Strong in your power, great and mighty,
Foremost in Naref, master of time and eternity
It is you who are Lord of Herakleopolis
“Praise be to you!”
At rest in Truth, it is you who are Lord of Abydos
Who has joined the sacred land with your body
You who are the one who hates falsehood.
“Praise be to you!”
In the midst of your sacred bark, you fetch Hapy from his cavern
One on whose dead body sunlight shines!
He is the one in Hierakonpolis
“Praise be to you!”
Creator of gods, King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Osiris vindicated
Who founded the Two Lands with his mighty acts:
This is he, Lord of the Two Banks!
(All to repeat)
May you make me a path that I may pass on in peace.
I am the one who is straight forward and true.
I did not speak falsehood knowingly, no did I do any evil thing twice
